dfine.io debuts its full-circle live streaming solution in a first look at the new Porsche 911 GT3 Touring. The automotive pioneer relied on confidential live monitoring to create the new Porsche’s TV commercial from five kilometers away, solving a tricky terrain blocker.
From directing to shooting to post production, dfine.io provided an unparalleled workflow solution that gave the entire production team complete access to video material at every key moment along the creation process.
PORSCHE’S PREDICAMENT
The most visceral variant of the Porsche 911 series – the GT3 Touring – demands an equally visceral debut. For the Laterna Magica filmproduction team creating its new corporate commercial, however, the perfect location came at the cost of tricky terrain that made directing on-site nearly impossible.
Barred from filming on location, the team was forced to set up their equipment five kilometers down the hill from where the 911 GT3 Touring would start its descent.
With connecting the director and their team to the ALEXA camera on-site via cable being a long shot, a new solution had to be sought.
SEEKING A DIGITAL SOLUTION
Side-stepping the need for cables completely, Laterna Magica opted to capture their car in action remotely, instead. And with their decision, ingesting new software to make it all possible quickly became the new top priority.
Handling all the digital material, from the shot itself to the post-production phase, remotely called for a multi-facetted live streaming solution. To migrate their entire workflow online, the team required a seamless solution that operates in near real-time, but generating a punchy commercial wasn’t their only concern. With confidentiality among the client’s top concerns, ensuring data safety for their as yet unseen material was equally as important. So, they turned to dfine.io.
A SEAMLESS INTEGRATION
In its own debut, dfine.io enabled the team to direct and capture the ad material they needed to showcase the unique 911 GT3 Touring. Camera output was streamed directly to the team’s setup five kilometers from where the 911 GT3 Touring performed, allowing the director to handle shots seamlessly, in near real-time.
Post-production for the entire project was handled internally using the platform’s collaborative live streaming capabilities. With all the remote access to the filming site the team needed, capturing and working on quality material became a much simpler task.
And data safety? With dfine.io’s host of security features, including local servers that ensure sensitive video material never left Germany’s borders, data leaks were never left up to chance.
