Live Session on a reference monitor

Workflow

Reference Live Session

The idea behind this workflow is to stream live content in two ways simultaneously: using a standard web browser for high-quality streaming and a reference monitor for more color-critical applications. The host creates a special link that allows the customer to watch the stream on a reference monitor with less than 3 seconds latency, while simultaneously viewing it on the web viewer with less than 1 second latency.

Scenarios

First, choose a scenario to determine your general streaming workflow. Then, continue here to create the monitor link.

💻 🖥️ Creating the Monitor Link

The host generates a special monitor link in the dfine.io admin interface and shares it with the customer. Alongside the usual web viewer link, the customer can then view the image on a reference monitor.

👨 The customer logging in

The customer, such as a post-production company with in-house infrastructure for working on reference monitors, needs to set up the monitor link using OBS. OBS uses the installed video capture card (e.g., a Decklink) to send the livestream signal to the reference monitor.
